Hi all

I was exploring option in identity repo section and found there is an option DATASET . Curious to know the use of this functionality.

If It's just to store data/files, why cant we use file directory. Is there any major difference between these 2 section, can anyone explain with some simple example.

If anyone knows, please answer.

  • Data set is used for storing static information which can be used in different functions or requests from to show.
  • example - displaying different country, city and there dependencies using dataset in ars request form
  • replacing characters / auto incremental logic using data set can be used
  • file directories file can’t use for sql query purpose.

Data needs to be stored to accomplish and drive certain procedures or as a reference point. You can create a dataset by uploading a CSV file to Saviynt Enterprise Identity Cloud (EIC). A lot of data is categorized as master data that does not change often. This data can be used in other places or forms. So, datasets are helpful in storing this master data. It is dynamic in nature; you can upload n number of datasets with attributes of your choice with a limitation of ten columns and ten thousand records.

Dataset is used to store the data in the EIC database. It can be used for various purposes. For example, you can create a temporary repository using a dataset, and using the custom validation JAR or APIs you can perform validations by taking the dataset stored in EIC database. In addition to performing validations, you can also use it for any other purpose too.
