Own E-Mail Template Variables?

Hi everyone, 

is it possible to define own variables for email templates somewhere? 

One Use-Case could be, that I can just add the variable e.g. ${footer}, that contains the footer for all my emails I need to send.

Now I add it to every email template. If I ever need to change something (like "remove the fax number from all communications") I only need to change it there and do not have to change it in every template manually.
