Moving to PROD files EXPORT

Hi sav community,
right now we are moving the files to PROD.
i need to export the SAP HCM REST connection, i saw in the Export Data there were security system / connection  but no endpoint.
there is Application onboarding which has the endpointdetails.txt
but it also has connections.txt systemdetails.txt..
would that mean it contains everything and i should either import them separately or just import the application onboarding? can you confirm what exactly it is and which is the best way to move ?

is there anywhere settings that specify PROD or  TEST ? for example global config ? anywhere that i should check ?

also if we move to PROD using the files, can we change the names of the ENDPOINTS for example? if we have it as connection_test of course in PROD we need the right naming, should i edit it in the files? or is there an option to do so in import ? and also created by, can we change it and where exactly?
same with URL PASSWORDS is it better t change in file or after importing them from UI  ?

thank you!

  • Use application onboarding feature to import from lower to prod.
  • connection - you can rename after importing also ( url needs to be updated, password will not be moved so update manually)
  • security system and endpoint ( you can’t rename, you can update package or you can update later by enhanced query)

@rushikeshvartak
thank you for your answer
can i ask you if you have hands on moving to PROD? can i ask what is considered best practice or "better"
to create the connection manually for a clean start or to import the files from TEST ?
and if doing it manually, if we did a change in the future to the test and we need it to implement it in PROD as well, we won't be able to re import the files because it will consider it as a new connection
what is your dea about that ?
how does saviynt make sure to update the connection and not create if we re-import of that is not possible? is there a unique id?
which is better in your opinion ?

and also for your answer you mean i need to import all 3 ? app onboarding / SS / connection ?

  • We have used manual approach
  • some time its not clean movement using app onboarding .
  • hence we move connection by normal export and other performed manually.
  • manual change henceforth is always better.
  • If you want to keep updating keep all 3 environment names same and display name different for connection/ security system: endpoint

Thank you so much! then i will create it manually!
can i also ask your opinion there are two ways to create them either from manage application or through the ui of endpoints/  connections etc..
which would be better ?
it is the first time to mov to PROD so i want to make sure of theses little details too..

also do you know if there is any important settings to make sure of while moving to PROD ? is there anything in global config for example that specify this is PROD and this is TEST? anything i should make sure of or pay attention to? anything as an advice to check first ?
thank you for your answer and help!!

  • We flow classic pattern go via identity repo and create
  • first time i will suggest go manual once you are confident with issues and validated in lower environment go with prod [Keep prod as clean as possible]
  • You need to remember what all global configuration you have updated for making application work, so high level i can't comment as i am not sure about fully about app and use cases

for global configurations i will be importing the file this way i make sure everything is there since we are many working on it.. i just thought you might have an idea about important configs to look at

i have already everything in test but i want to confirm this small details
since if i create the connection for example from ADMIN -> connection -> create new connection ..

it wont be visible if we go to Manage Application
so i wanted to make sure of that as well if this is important or not..

Thank you so much!! @rushikeshvartak

  • so i wanted to make sure of that as well if this is important or not.. - Does not matter
