The Home Page banner text defaults to a very light color, and is practically useless since it is not seen at all.
How do I change the font color so as to make it stand out and visible?

Font color is not configurable but background color can be info/ critical
check under global configuration - preferences - Banner: Color & Importance
Select the color of the banner based on the importance of the message
