We have a requirement to implement a connection between EIC and our RACF instance in order to manage users on the latter
Checking the documentation provided for the RACF connector (https://docs.saviyntcloud.com/bundle/RACF-v24x/page/Content/About-This-Guide.htm) (the linked guide is for 24x, but it is the same for other versions), we find this to be insufficient as some of the questions we have are not answered, and the documentation it self is contradictory in some aspects, the following are some of the issues we have:
- The documentation starts by mentioning ControlM and this platform is not mentioned again at any point in the documentation, is ControlM needed for this implementation? if it is, what is needed to be implemented in it (scheduled jobs, file transfers, etc)?
- The documentation states that 2 files are needed, the commands file as well as the trigger file, in different parts of the documentation is stated that EIC sends the file (push) to RACF, in others is stated that RACF pulls the file, which of these is correct? the documentation contradicts it self even in the different diagrams provided
- Where are the files sent, or pushed or pulled or whatever? Is it to the Z/OS side of the mainframe or do they go to the USS (Unix) side of the mainframe?
- Once the commands are either sent of pulled (see previous point), how are these executed by RACF?, in specific, once the two files are there, how do we properly trigger something to read the command file and execute it? The documentation is sparse at best regarding this point
Anyone has an idea regarding this?
