External Connection usage in Data Import.

Can someone please explain how we can use "External Connection" option in "Application Data Import" Job.

Once I select the 'System(security system)', the External Connection is automatically picked up (the connector configured at Security System).

Shall we select the Other connector which is different than the connector configured at Security System here ?
If yes, under what circumstances or use cases we select it ?

Can some one please explain it clearly with an example use case.

Thanks & Regards,

Hello @NM ,

Basically I need an example use case to understand in what case we use the External Connection option. Could you please explain, why we use it.

Thanks & Regards,

@Saviynt_Savvy external in job is the same connection present in security system to import the data from target application.

  • External connection on job level is basically used for Import account / entitlements from target .
  • By default once connection is successful it populated import connection  [connection field under security system]
  • There are some use cases where 2 connections are used for the same security system where we can change an external connection; hence, its available during job creation/updation.

@Saviynt_Savvy  :

1.External connection if we pass job/ system level connection need to  map run the job for import the data groups/accounts.

2.Security system level we can pass but it is not mad* for reconciliation connector.

both are same functionality but when going transport endpoint and security system it required those things in Security system level
