How To resolve Incorrect string value: '\xF0\x9F\x93\xA2' in AAD Access Import

Use Case/Problem Statement

While running the AAD access import job, the job will display an error as below.

[quartzScheduler_Worker-5] DEBUG generic.GenericProvisioningService - INFO ErEx: processChannels:persistObjects : Incorrect string value: '\xF0\x9F\x93\xA2' for column 'ENTITLEMENT_VALUE' at row 1"

Solution

In order to fix this issue we need to update the config

1. Ensure  "entitlement_value": "displayName~#~emchar", is defined under Entitlement Attribute" section
2. In the configuration table, REST_UNICODE_FILTER entry should be present and the value for CONFIGDATA should be set to 0

The emchar datatype should work from 2021.0.4 version

REST_UNICODE_FILTER what is use of configuration. where on UI this configuration is available?

This config allows to accept different language characters and symbols. You will need to add this config from DB query and will not be visible on UI.

Hello Sahil,

How exactly does it work by changing in the mapping to emchar ? Does it trim/crop those emoji's during import ?

Also, I have observed square brackets are getting trimmed during access import and rest of the content gets updated in Saviynt regardless what type you set (char or emchar). Is this expected behavior ?

The application will not fail the import after the config is added by cropping and all Entitlements values will be imported successfully after adding the config. The brackets should not be affected by this.
