Dear Community,

as there is no clear guidance / matrix available i would have loved to ask what the differences are betwee:

  • WIN-PS
  • Connect 2.0

If i understood it right:

Connect 2.0 shall be the go to for Ative Directory Integration and the Win-PS is secondary/older?

Thanks for a few hints or references where its explained properly

Best

Hi, Connect 2.0 and WIN-PS are two different things -

Connect 2.0 - This Saviynt option to provide network connectivity from Saviynt cloud to customers on premises application. Saviynt Connect 2.0 is an SSL-based custom solution that enables you to connect securely to on-premise or on-cloud target systems. Refer following documentation for more details - https://docs.saviyntcloud.com/bundle/Saviynt-Connect-20-Resources/page/Content/Saviynt-Connect-20-Re...

This is required before you can build saviynt connector to on-prem application like Active Directory.

WIN-PS - WinPS is a Saviynt connector that is used for provisioning/deprovisioning and account import activities. Refer following documents for details - https://docs.saviyntcloud.com/bundle/WinPS-v231/page/Content/Using-the-Win-PS-Connector.htm

Let us know if you have more questions.

Thanks for the reference of the documents, still its a bit unclear:

  • Does WIN-PS rely on Connect 2.0
  • In the documentation there is no guidance on how to understand how this works out, design/documentation?
  • And how this is configured or not neccessary
  • Also limitations or ip overlappings i cant find

Anytime you have to integrated Saviynt application which is on cloud to your on-prem application (such as AD) a network connectivity is needed. To provide such network connectivity Connect 2.0 is used. Since WinPS connector communicates with on-prem IIS server, it requires network connectivity and for that Connect 2.0 is needed.

Typically network connectivity discussion happens as soon as tenant is available to the customer - can you reach out the CSM or TAM, so that they can provide required information. Most probably your network team would also like to be involved as it also includes opening Firewall ports.
