Risks and operational challenges of integrating Saviynt IGA ServiceNow application in ServiceNow

Hi everyone,

I am writing this to you to know about your experience on integrating ServiceNow with Saviynt through Saviynt provided ServiceNow app for user synchronization.

Specifically, we would like to have information on below pointers:

  • Are there any security risks associated on using the ServiceNow app for ServiceNow - Saviynt integration?
  • Are there any operational overheads in maintaining (like upgrading app…) the ServiceNow app incase Saviynt/ServiceNow application gets upgraded?

We would greatly appreciate it if you could share your insights with us. Your feedback will be invaluable as we plan our integration.

As per personal experience, the below points have been either challenging or things to notice when using ServiceNow App for Saviynt to let end users request access to Saviynt integrated applications : 

  • For synchronization purpose, make sure you can be in synch at least twice a day to prevent data change from Saviynt not reflecting in ServiceNow
  • Saviynt enables administrators to configure Dynamic Attributes to enhance user access request to complete data on target application or narrow down the roles to request. The second use case is not achievable in ServiceNow as dynamic attributes are displayed below the list of requested roles. Therefore you would not benefit from this filtering.
  • Maintaining these Dynamic attributes is time-consuming. Any change in Saviynt must be manually reflected and duplicated within ServiceNow attributes.
  • A single workflow will be used for all target application made available within Saviynt. It is great for compliance and uniformization, but you lose flexibility based on needs.
  • Last but not least, I am not sure ServiceNow can get the identity's data from Saviynt in order to filter the available endpoints, leveraging the "Access Query". > This would need additional testing.
