How to prevent prefered firstname from auto populating?

Prefered first name field is auto populating on user records without any attribute mapping in place. How can we prevent that from happening? It should not contain any value unless we explicitly provide a configuration to do so. This is happening when users are created via api and no value is passed for that attribute.

If this helped you move forward, click 'Kudos'. If it solved your query, select 'Accept As Solution'.

Its triggering user update rules because on API create, a value is being populated and then when we pull in user record from auth source, there is no value on the record thus triggering user update rules for attribute syncs. Some users will have that value, some wont, the platform shouldnt just be populating attributes unless configured to do so.

You can raise defect with support ticket
